D.Y.I Wedding Flowers... Get Inspired!

This week we received some pictures of brides who were married using our wholesale wedding flowers.  Not only did they talk about the quality of the flowers they received, but they also told us how happy they were with the wedding arrangements they were able to create all by THEMSELVES!

These beautiful pictures made us think that while planning a wedding is a very time-consuming and sometimes stressful process, taking charge of some of the major wedding items can be a money-saving and rewarding experience!

Our first bride shared with us two photos describing how happy she was with the flowers she purchased on our website.  We, on the other hand, were impressed by her sister's creativity and innate talent! The wedding arrangements she put together using our bulk flowers were beautiful, elegant and SO trendy!

As if this was not enough to convince us of how easy it can be to create a gorgeous wedding arrangement with wholesale flowers, the bride also shared a picture of her bridal bouquet and the groom's boutonniere!

I mean, seriously, could they look any happier?

Then, we were pleasantly surprised by the mother of not one but TWO brides who were married using our bulk flowers (she is, by the way, a pleasure to speak with!).  The pictures she shared with us left us speechless...

The beautiful bride and her parents!

The stunning bride!

First of all, aren't these two brides just gorgeous? Their D.I.Y bridal bouquets complement their beauty and obvious contentment.  We feel so blessed to have been part of their special day.

Thank you for reading and remember, beautiful wedding flowers don't have to be expensive. You only need some motivation and vision in order to add a personal touch to an elegant wedding decoration with fresh flowers.  Plus, you can save even more money by doing so!

Would you make your own wedding arrangements using wholesale flowers?

A Conversation with Leyla Guido, AIFD. Floral Design Inspiration Series

When I chose my wedding flowers, I wanted something that would be more than just a wedding decoration.  I wanted a bouquet that would speak to me and that would make me feel like there was a real connection between the romanticism of the occasion and the wedding flowers themselves.  That is when I discovered that wedding arrangements do have some sort of personality, which is often given by the floral designer that created them in the first place. Because of that, I decided to chat with our senior floral designer, Leyla Guido, who shared with me some interesting aspects of one of our best seller flower sets, the Mini Callas Collection.

Orange Mini Callas
What you will find in the following lines is how these flowers came to be what they are today, and how they have spoken to the brides who have chosen them as their wedding flowers. This is what Leyla shared with us:

Q: We are curious, what is it like to be a wedding flower designer?
A: It is a very satisfying job! In order to be a wedding flower designer, the artist needs to listen and be ready to please the most challenging bride, as well as to be a source of inspiration for the most relaxed one.

Q: What do you love the most about your job?
A. I love the fact that I get to experiment with new trends in floral design on a regular basis. Innovation is what I enjoy the most!

Q: When you were thinking about this wedding collection, what made you choose these flowers?
A: Mini callas are trendy, elegant, and have a great array of colors to choose from. This gives them a very unique versatility and that is why many brides have chosen these collections for their wedding decoration.

Q: In your opinion, what kind of feelings do these flowers inspire?
A: Mini Callas inspire happiness and beauty. You do not need to have too many of them in a bouquet to transmit these types of emotions.

Q: As for the accessories you incorporated in this collection, do they have a special meaning or purpose?
A: Any accessories that I incorporate into any collection will complement the wedding color, and the kind of flowers, without overshadowing the flowers themselves.

Q: If you could define this collection in one word only, what would it be?
A: ELEGANCE!

Q: What made you think that brides would like to use these flowers for their weddings?
A: The minimalism that the current event-decoration trends demand, makes mini callas a perfect match for a simple, yet elegant wedding.

Q: From your perspective, what makes this collection a great choice for brides?
A: This collection comes in different colors and provides an elegant without using too many flowers. Therefore, it is a great choice for any contemporary bride!

Q: What would you say to a bride who has not considered using this collection for her wedding?
A: I will suggest complementing any other flower idea that she may have with the centerpieces from this collection, as they are very elegant and charming!

Q: Did you encounter any missteps or difficulties while trying to put together the collection you envisioned?
A: No, I didn't. It was rather a very pleasant process, especially because mini callas are available year round!

Q: What would you say to a bride who has not considered using this collection for her wedding?
A: I would suggest complementing any other flower idea that she may have with the centerpieces from this collection, as they are very elegant and charming!

Q: Did you encounter any missteps or difficulties while trying to put together the collection you envisioned?
A: No, I didn't. It was rather a very pleasant process since mini callas are available year-round!

Q:What other accessories do you think a bride can incorporate in order to complement or make this collection stand out?
A: I will suggest a nice low cut square vase with color stones for the centerpieces.

Q: Did you have to change this collection from the original design, as you were putting it together?
A: Yes, I removed some other flowers that I was planning to mix within the collection. After I reviewed the assortment of colors available and the elegant beauty that mini callas display by themselves, I decided to modify the collection from my original idea.

Q: What would be your ideal setting for this wedding collection?
A: An outdoor wedding would be a delightful use of these flowers.

Q: Looking back at when you started to design this collection, is there anything you would have done differently in terms of design, materials or flowers?
A: I would have loved to incorporate some Swarovski crystals in the bridal bouquet

Q: What was the easiest part of designing this collection? Was it choosing the colors, greenery, or types of flowers?
A: The easiest part was selecting the kind of flowers, since mini callas are great to work with!

Q: If you could give a bride any general wedding advice, what would it be?
A: It would be a two-part piece of advice:
BUY YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS WITH 100 % CONFIDENCE FROM BRIDESIGN.COM. Plus, RELAX AND ENJOY YOUR VERY SPECIAL DAY...EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE!

Stay tuned for more Floral Design Inspiration Series and let us know what you think about this gorgeous collection! Would you use it for your wedding?...

Fall Wedding Flowers

Weddings are beautiful regardless of the season. In the spring, the flowers are blooming and there is a cheerful ambiance wherever you go, while in the summer there is a certain excitement marked by the beginning of a warmer season.  In the fall however, there is a secret charm that can be experienced with all the senses; the smell of an early and crisp fall morning, the look of the fall foliage or the decadent taste of a deliciously baked pumpkin pie.  Needless to say, fall makes for a perfect season to have a wedding.

The wedding dress along with other details are solely dependent upon the brides' choices and preferences, and they usually do not rely on the season in which the wedding will take place. Wedding flowers are a different story, since many brides choose their wedding decoration based upon the season and wedding trends. Above all, wedding flowers play a very important role in the general ambiance of a fall wedding.

Bright yellow, charming oranges and deep reds make for a beautiful wedding-flowers selection that is meant to warm up the ambiance of the wedding, providing a pleasant feeling and add to the innate romanticism of the occasion.  When choosing your wedding flowers for your fall wedding, there is no right or wrong, as the colors of this season allow you to choose from a variety of arrangements and flower types of your choice.

Simply go for something that is appealing to both of you.  After all, the colors of this season provide a symbolism of hope and new beginnings, and complement the warm and cozy atmosphere of this precious milestone.

Feeling Savvy? Tip #2... Balance Saving and Splurging!

There are so many things that we all would love to have in our weddings. An amazing carriage, great live music, an scrumptious menu, a first-class open bar...so many things come to mind! Truth is, in order to stay within your budget, you need to set up priorities and consider those wedding-related items which you can really save money on and those on which you can't.
For instance, creating your own wedding invitations, printing out the menus yourself or designing your own floral decoration can save you hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars altogether. Now, I know what you are thinking, "I am so handcraft-challenged! I wouldn't dare to ruin my own wedding decoration!..." Whatever the case may be, in order to be able to afford those additional items that would make you wedding stand out, there are plenty of resources out there to help you plan a gorgeous event while staying within your budget.

Creating your own wedding invitations is always a great way to save money. It is extremely easy to design and print the invitations and even the menus, thanks to sites such as One Heart Weddings and blogs such as Wedding Invitation Templates, which provide some awesome ideas for your wedding stationery.
Designing your own wedding decoration can seem a bit intimidating as well, and many brides-to-be decide to leave that task to wedding planners and designers. However, it only takes a bit of initiative and a strong desire to save money to create an exquisite wedding decoration and nowadays, it is easier than ever! Sites such as  SaveonCrafts.com offer not only gorgeous products for weddings, but also ideas about different types of wedding decoration. Savvy brides choose to buy Flowers in bulk , and, with the help provided by these sites, they go on to design their decoration like any wedding designer would... many times, only better!

Being a hands-on bride  and being really involved with your wedding planning process will not only be a big-time money saver... it will also add a very personal and special touch to what should be the most important day in your life. Think about it, taking the time to handcraft many little details for your big day is something that you will get to do only once... better yet, you get to save money in the process. This, in turn, will give you enough room to afford those other things that you can't really negotiate or save on...such as a honeymoon to the Maldives... just saying!

Take home message?...go ahead and get crafty!

Tip #1 Continuation... Saving on Wedding Gowns

Another great website for wedding dresses at great prices is www.oncewed.com. Although the wedding gowns are used, they are very affordable so that you have enough room in your budget for alterations, dry cleaning and accessories. Because they have been used only once before, you are very likely to find your wedding gown in great shape for a fraction of the price!
However, if you prefer to use a brand new wedding gown, you can check out sample sales in which stores try to get rid of their inventory by marking down their wedding gowns by as much as 75% in some cases! You can find these sample sales around where you live, but there are also some online stores such as http://www.hitchedsalon.com, where you can sign up for their mailing list and find out every time they have a new dress in their inventory. You will have a better chance of finding a wedding gown if you are a size 10 (usually 6-8 in regular sizes), but they do have other sizes and offer you specialized service, since you can email or call them to let them know exactly what you are looking for!

Feeling Savvy? Tip #1

Most of us have dreamed of a beautiful stress-free and unforgettable wedding. Once we get engaged, we think about how to make our wedding the most special day not only for us, but also for all of our guests. Many of us, however, plan a wedding under a tight budget, and we may worry that this may result in a just-average wedding. Well, good news everybody! There are multiple ways to make your wedding the way you want it and still stay under your budget. It may involve plenty of handy work and patience, but then again, it will only happen once, so make the most out of it!!!

We will be posting several tips to make your dream wedding an affordable one, so check out our Tip #1:

How To Save on Wedding Gowns

To save on wedding gowns (often times a big expense for any bride), try buying them in places such as Craigslist, eBay or Amazon! One of my best friends actually bought a beautiful Vera Wang wedding dress for a fraction of the price and she was able to wear a designer gown during her very special day. With the money saved, she decided she would splurge on clothes and accessories for her honeymoon, which she will be able to use more than once!

Do you have any other tips for savvy brides? Then post away!!!
