Feeling Savvy? Tip #2... Balance Saving and Splurging!

There are so many things that we all would love to have in our weddings. An amazing carriage, great live music, an scrumptious menu, a first-class open bar...so many things come to mind! Truth is, in order to stay within your budget, you need to set up priorities and consider those wedding-related items which you can really save money on and those on which you can't.
For instance, creating your own wedding invitations, printing out the menus yourself or designing your own floral decoration can save you hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars altogether. Now, I know what you are thinking, "I am so handcraft-challenged! I wouldn't dare to ruin my own wedding decoration!..." Whatever the case may be, in order to be able to afford those additional items that would make you wedding stand out, there are plenty of resources out there to help you plan a gorgeous event while staying within your budget.

Creating your own wedding invitations is always a great way to save money. It is extremely easy to design and print the invitations and even the menus, thanks to sites such as One Heart Weddings and blogs such as Wedding Invitation Templates, which provide some awesome ideas for your wedding stationery.
Designing your own wedding decoration can seem a bit intimidating as well, and many brides-to-be decide to leave that task to wedding planners and designers. However, it only takes a bit of initiative and a strong desire to save money to create an exquisite wedding decoration and nowadays, it is easier than ever! Sites such as  SaveonCrafts.com offer not only gorgeous products for weddings, but also ideas about different types of wedding decoration. Savvy brides choose to buy Flowers in bulk , and, with the help provided by these sites, they go on to design their decoration like any wedding designer would... many times, only better!

Being a hands-on bride  and being really involved with your wedding planning process will not only be a big-time money saver... it will also add a very personal and special touch to what should be the most important day in your life. Think about it, taking the time to handcraft many little details for your big day is something that you will get to do only once... better yet, you get to save money in the process. This, in turn, will give you enough room to afford those other things that you can't really negotiate or save on...such as a honeymoon to the Maldives... just saying!

Take home message?...go ahead and get crafty!

Tip #1 Continuation... Saving on Wedding Gowns

Another great website for wedding dresses at great prices is www.oncewed.com. Although the wedding gowns are used, they are very affordable so that you have enough room in your budget for alterations, dry cleaning and accessories. Because they have been used only once before, you are very likely to find your wedding gown in great shape for a fraction of the price!
However, if you prefer to use a brand new wedding gown, you can check out sample sales in which stores try to get rid of their inventory by marking down their wedding gowns by as much as 75% in some cases! You can find these sample sales around where you live, but there are also some online stores such as http://www.hitchedsalon.com, where you can sign up for their mailing list and find out every time they have a new dress in their inventory. You will have a better chance of finding a wedding gown if you are a size 10 (usually 6-8 in regular sizes), but they do have other sizes and offer you specialized service, since you can email or call them to let them know exactly what you are looking for!

Feeling Savvy? Tip #1

Most of us have dreamed of a beautiful stress-free and unforgettable wedding. Once we get engaged, we think about how to make our wedding the most special day not only for us, but also for all of our guests. Many of us, however, plan a wedding under a tight budget, and we may worry that this may result in a just-average wedding. Well, good news everybody! There are multiple ways to make your wedding the way you want it and still stay under your budget. It may involve plenty of handy work and patience, but then again, it will only happen once, so make the most out of it!!!

We will be posting several tips to make your dream wedding an affordable one, so check out our Tip #1:

How To Save on Wedding Gowns

To save on wedding gowns (often times a big expense for any bride), try buying them in places such as Craigslist, eBay or Amazon! One of my best friends actually bought a beautiful Vera Wang wedding dress for a fraction of the price and she was able to wear a designer gown during her very special day. With the money saved, she decided she would splurge on clothes and accessories for her honeymoon, which she will be able to use more than once!

Do you have any other tips for savvy brides? Then post away!!!
